At Choe’s HapKiDo, martial arts community involvement is an important part of who we are. Through annual kick-a-thons, blanket drives, school supply drives, food drives, and other service projects, students have opportunities to learn the value of giving back while making a positive impact in their communities.
Our schools have proudly supported organizations including the American Cancer Society, The Humane Society, and the Spectrum Autism Support Group. By combining martial arts training with community service, we help students develop leadership, compassion, and a sense of responsibility both on and off the mat.
In October 2023, our team efforts resulted in a $650 donation to the Spectrum Autism Support Group. Join us in making a difference, one kick at a time!
In December 2023, we volunteered at Hope Lodge in Decatur, serving dinner for cancer residents, and at Emory University’s Clairmont campus, providing dinner for 50 people involved in cancer treatment programs.
In January 2024, we donated $260 to the American Cancer Society in honor of Jack Lowe, a fellow HapKiDo student battling cancer.
Every spring, our students at different Choe’s HapKiDo locations rally together, gather sponsors, and commit to completing all their kicks for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA). This annual fundraiser brings all kinds of communities together.
Since launching our first Kick-A-Thon in 2016, we’ve raised $42,338.50 for CHOA through 8 annual events.
In April 2024, we proudly hosted our 6th Annual Kick-a-thon, raising over $4000 for CHOA.
In April 2025, we proudly hosted our 7th Annual Kick-a-thon, raising over $8000 for CHOA. Read more here!
In April 2026, we proudly hosted our 8th Annual Kick-a-thon, raising $7,338.50 for CHOA.
At Choe’s HapKiDo, martial arts community involvement is about more than supporting local causes—it’s about helping students develop character, leadership, and a lifelong commitment to serving others. Through fundraisers, donation drives, volunteer opportunities, and community events, students learn that the lessons practiced on the mat can make a positive difference beyond the training floor.
