beginner martial arts classes

Beginner Martial Arts Classes will open a whole new world!

If you’ve ever watched a karate movie and felt inspired…

If you’ve seen someone perform a powerful martial arts move and thought, “Wow, I wish I could do that”…

Or if martial arts has always been something on your bucket list—there’s never been a better time to start.

At Choe’s HapKiDo, our beginner martial arts classes are open for kids, teens, and adults. No matter your age or experience level, you’ll be welcomed into a supportive, empowering environment where personal growth is just as important as physical strength. Whether you’re looking for self-defense, confidence, focus, or a fun and exciting way to get active, our classes are designed to help every student thrive.

Martial arts is not just about learning to kick and punch—it’s about becoming stronger in every way. Through consistent training, students build muscle, improve balance, and increase endurance. But even more valuable are the mental benefits: focus, discipline, confidence, and perseverance.

In our beginner martial arts classes, each student is encouraged to grow at their own pace. We meet you where you are and help you become the best version of yourself—one class at a time!

Our beginner martial arts classes for kids are a perfect mix of excitement and structure. Children love the high-energy atmosphere, the games, and the opportunity to earn belts. But what parents appreciate most is how their child becomes more focused, respectful, and confident.

In addition to learning self-defense, kids discover how to listen, follow instructions, and treat others with kindness. These are skills they’ll carry into the classroom, at home, and for life. Plus, Choe’s HapKiDo keeps the excitement going all year long with two inspiring championships and fun events like Nerf War parties, kick-a-thons, and seasonal celebrations that keep students engaged and motivated.

As they grow in both skill and confidence, children also have the chance to step into leadership through our Junior Assistant Instructor Program—an empowering opportunity that teaches responsibility, teamwork, and how to lead by example.

Teenagers face a world full of pressures—social, academic, and emotional. Our beginner martial arts classes give teens a healthy outlet to channel energy, reduce stress, and build a positive self-image.

In addition to training in a supportive environment, teens at Choe’s HapKiDo have opportunities to grow as leaders through our Assistant Instructor Program. This hands-on experience helps teens build communication skills, responsibility, and confidence as they guide and mentor younger students.

Teens also get to enjoy all the fun that comes with being part of our community—challenging themselves in belt tests and annual championships, giving back through community service opportunities, and forming strong friendships with peers who uplift and inspire one another.

You’re never too old to start martial arts. Adults who join our beginner martial arts classes range from 18 to 60s and beyond. Whether your goal is to get in shape, learn self-defense, or simply find something that motivates you beyond the gym, martial arts offers a full-body workout that keeps both your body and mind engaged.

More than just a fitness routine, training at Choe’s HapKiDo becomes a journey of self-improvement. It’s not about being the fastest or strongest—it’s about showing up, making progress, and growing stronger every day. Classes provide a healthy way to de-stress, re-focus, and gain energy, all in a welcoming, family-fun environment.

Adults also enjoy the camaraderie of our martial arts community. From cheering each other on during belt tests and championships to participating in service-based events that give back, our adult students come to realize they’re part of something bigger. And perhaps the most rewarding part? You get to be a student again—to rediscover curiosity, resilience, and the joy of learning something completely new.
