As martial artists, not only do we focus on changing the world one class at a time, we also try to raise the spirit of good community by giving back to our communities. Every few months, we make a donation to a charity chosen by our instructors. This month, Choe’s HapKiDo Martial Arts has come together to donate $650 to the Spectrum Autism Support Group. By making a donation for each new member that joins our family, we are inspired and motivated to donate to organizations regularly. But this month is special, as it’s our first contribution! We host a couple of drives every year, and this is our way to be able to give back more to the communities. Why do we do this? Participating in the communities like this supports one of the core precepts of Choe’s HapKiDo: We Serve the Community. By serving the community, we believe we can make an even bigger impact on people’s lives!
Autism, a neurodevelopmental disorder, affects millions of individuals worldwide. It is characterized by a wide range of challenges, including difficulties in communication, social interaction, and repetitive behaviors. The impact of autism is not limited to those diagnosed. It touches the lives of their families, friends, and communities. Serving Gwinnett County since 1998, the Spectrum Autism Support Group plays a vital role in providing families, friends, and teachers of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder phenomenal support, resources, and resources. Currently, this Spectrum is serving 1,500 families in Gwinnett County and the surrounding areas.
By choosing to donate to Spectrum Autism Support Group, Choe’s HapKiDo Karate acknowledges the significance of supporting those who face unique challenges and celebrates the potential of every individual, regardless of their neurodiversity. This act of compassion resonates deeply with the principles of martial arts, where we are encouraged to understand and respect differences, while fostering an inclusive and supportive environment.
To make the world a better place, Choe’s HapKiDo looks for opportunities to give back to the community. Whether it’s through teaching, volunteering, or fundraising, we love that we can collaborate as a large family and help others. Giving back is an integral part of the martial arts journey, and it supports our philosophy that the skills acquired should be used to benefit not just oneself, but also to the broader community. We are grateful to have this amazing opportunity to help out the Spectrum Autism Support Group! We look forward to working with other non-profit organizations and schools in the upcoming year!
